Artist of the Day Classes 2026

For our final Polymer Claycation, we have something extra. Our three Artists of the Day are back, and by popular demand we’ve added two more teachers: an Artist of the Half-Day to kick things off on Sunday afternoon, and an Artist of the Night for two evening sessions.
Each Artist of the Day leads a morning session, after which folks can return to the workroom to try out the techniques. The Featured Artist will be circulating to help troubleshoot, and fellow Claycationers are encouraged to inspire, as well as learn from, each other. The day ends with an afternoon session and a chance for participants to show off their creations.

Kaleidoscope Canes with Lynne Sole
Artist of the Half-Day · Sunday, November 8 · 3:00–5:00 pm
A simple and versatile kaleidoscope cane. The cane starts with two Skinner blends, which are made into bull’s-eye canes. These canes are then combined and manipulated (shape changing and reduced) to produce a triangular cane, which is halved and then “kaleidoscoped” to form the final cane. Use the cane to make trinket bowls and jewelry. This class is a great way to learn how to make canes!
Mosaic Bowls and Pendants with Lisa Haney
Artist of the Night · Sunday, November 8 and Tuesday, November 10 · 7:00–9:00 pm
Join Lisa as she demonstrates how to create an extruder cane and transform its slices into a unique spiral mosaic pattern. You’ll then learn how to turn your beautiful spiral veneer into a one-of-a-kind mosaic bowl or pendant.
Elegant Grunge with Denise Fitzsimmons
Monday, November 9 · 10:00 am–12:00 pm and 3:00–5:00 pm
From elegant draping to grungy scraping! In this class you will learn how to make polymer clay look like draped fabric and juxtapose it with a touch of grunge. This project can be used for jewelry, bowls, boxes, wall art, journal covers, and more. Denise will show you how she starts with an inspiration picture and uses the colors, textures, and lines to help her through her process. While not necessary, the inspiration pic is a great starting point. If you want to stick to draping, go right ahead! Want to grunge it all the way up? Go for it! There are so many possibilities with this project!
Puff Boxes with Linda Hess
Tuesday, November 10 · 10:00 am–12:00 pm and 3:00–5:00 pm
Create a beautiful hollow form (pillow) that begins life as a 4”x4” square! Once the puff is formed, turn it into a box by adding components to the top and bottom. Not a box person? The hollow form can also come to life as an ornament. The beauty of your finished piece will come from the choice of banners, texture, and embellishments.
With credit to Mags Bonham, who created these boxes and published them in Polymer Café (Spring 2005). Linda teaches them with Mags’s blessing.
Dimensional PC Art with Deb Jaffe
Wednesday, November 11 · 10:00 am–12:00 pm and 3:00–5:00 pm
Do you feel like you are just not a sculptor? You can’t figure out how to give your designs dimension? Well, have we have the solution for you! Deb will teach you how to use simple flat drawings as templates to build dimension and color transition easily. She will provide templates and techniques for you to use to mimic her creation, while teaching more experienced clayers how to make their own. Not everything is as difficult as it seems.
